Matthew Williamson for Bulgari

apart from the Bulgari fine jewellery collections which are undoubtably amazing, i think Bulgari accessories from bags to sunglasses are boring to death. then comes someone who’s the exact opposite in style and design and gives the magic touch.

in this case british designer Matthew Williamson, who’s well known for his colorful prints, designed for Bulgari a small capsule collection of bags in geometric lines and visionary kaleidoscope prints that you find it hard to take your eyes from.

vintage-like

more hip bags of this season! i absolutely adore those new-retro bags that look like picked-up from mom’s closet, so 70’s and more practical (we’d almost forgotten what it’s like not to carry all your property in a bag). A Chloe and a Gucci beauty, both from winter collection.

at Louis Vuitton FW2010-11 presentation in Athens

Fact: Louis Vuitton is a fashion house with great history, that mainly started from luxury leather goods. that has always been the trademark for Louis Vuitton: Excellent leather handcraft. Although the house has made a fortune by selling zillions of LV logo bags, something considered to be classy/ classic, i detest logos and the only LV i own was gifted to me.

However, once again i was dazzled by the amazing job they do there, and nobody can deny that. i attended  Louis Vuitton private view of their F/W 2010-11 collection the other day at hotel Pentelikon, and was blown away by the beauty, the perfect work, the infallible tailoring and detailing of every single piece. Alain from the press office in Paris took the time to present and describe every piece in the presentation, pointing out that the effort put is the same as at couture pieces..

as i’ve told you before, Marc Jacobs showed for winter a very cinematic collection, internally inspired by 50’s and especially Brigitte Bardot in the movie “And God created woman”. but what is even lovelier is the use and combination of textures: very feminine narrow waisted dresses and circle skirts made of thick masculine fabrics. sexy corset tops beneath heavy bouclet coats. contrast and harmony between fragility and power.

if you take a closer look, this skirt was quilted by hand and every square was filled with feathers
