an ode to Raquel

when i feel like a twelve-year-old and play with my fashion-junkie friends “which top model you’d like to be”  -if i was to reborn as a top model that is, a dream highly likely to come true one day- i always think of Raquel Zimmermann and we all agree. Raquel Zimmermann is one of THE top toppest of top models ev-ah.

Having been working for over a decade with the most important people of the fashion industry, the Brazilian top model  is still taking our breaths away. Born 28 years ago in Rio Grande do Sul, Raquel is a skateboard rider and a quitar player as well. She belongs in the great family of Viva Models Agency in Paris, measures 84-61-88 and is the dearest model of the iconic photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

The last three months Raquel has appeared in editorials for Vogue US, Vogue UK,Vogue Paris, W and was the cover girl of Vogue Brazil and Korean W, too. She has this magnificent talent to always transform herself, and that’s another reason why she features in five F/W 2011-12 advertising campaigns -Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander Wang and Juicy Couture. Furthermore, Raquel recently left the Top50 rank of models.com to enter 16th at the Top Icons list of all times.

Lanvin SS2011 fashion show

Lanvin show would start immediately after Margiela (of course only when Carine and Anna were in) but on the other side of the city, meaning you have to be quick. It was raining, my precious shoes nearly survived the disaster and the buses of the defiles were full in no time. Apparently i wasn’t quick enough. I had to follow some asian journalists- they always know where the closest taxi-nest is and ta-daaa! i shared a cab wit my new friend from Hong-Kong and prayed holding hands to arrive on time.

thank god we did. the venue was huge and packed. of course you don’t expect to find your seat, you’ll be lucky to just seat anywhere.
