MariannaG at Matsuhisa Athens

It was the hottest day of June and it was dedicated to bathing suits.
The summery show of Marianna G Swimwear collection on Wednesday was escorted by the finest Athenian sushi of Matsuhisa restaurant at Astir Palace Hotel, while all revenues went to Orama Elpidas Association. The beautiful swimsuits and beachwear were presented together with the most gorgeous collectible pieces of Ilias Lalaounis jewelry and Kalogirou shoes. I absolutely loved the hair by Nicolas Viliotis and make up by Manos Vynichakis. Congratulations to Michael Pandos for the styling and the art direction.

Taste the Fashion Vol.3

The third Taste the Fashion took place on Monday once again at Hilton Hotel, with Roberto Cavalli, Etro and Lanvin being the main participants. Three famous greek chefs accompanied each show with a special dish. Kostas Athanasiou cooked for Etro, Christophoros Peskias for Roberto Cavalli and Stelios Parliaros prepared the dessert for Lanvin.
This time all profits went to Elepap.

Marni at Salone del Mobile 2012

Marni presents, during Salone del Mobile 2012, a collection of 100 chairs which have been made in Colombia by ex-prisoners, aiming to reinforce their resettlement into social and working life.  All chairs consist of metal structure and multi-colored PVC threads.

The chairs are linked to the “L’Arte del Ritratto” project through a photo exhibition, created in collaboration with the photographer and filmmaker Francesco Iodice, who will use the chairs as background for a series of portraits of Marni teams from different departments. “L’Arte del Ritratto” is an homage dedicated to them, destined to last in time, which is also accompanied by a video that reports the shooting experience.

The collection of 100 chairs, the photo exhibition and the video will be presented at the Marni boutique and all photos will be published on ANTICAMERA2, Marni’s online magazine on marni.com during the Salone del Mobile 2012. The amount raised from the sale of the chairs will be entirely donated.

Last night we Tasted the Fashion, because sometimes fashion is eatable for a good purpose. Taste the Fashion was a charity fashion dinner that took place at Hilton Hotel. Menu was cooked by three top chefs combined with a trunk show of three great greek designers. Why? for Hamogelo, the non governmental organization that does an amazingly good job for children all those years and is in real need of funds.

Sophia Kokosalaki, DeuxHommes and Mi-Ro were the participants and here comes a long post of backstage pictures. Enjoy!

a beautiful t-shirt for a good purpose

The charity AIDS T-Shirt has been present in all Maison Martin Margiela collections since Fall/Winter 1994/1995. Each T-Shirt is produced in a different colour with contrasted text every season and bears the text marked below in English:

THERE IS MORE ACTION TO BE DONE TO FIGHT AIDS THAN TO WEAR THIS T-SHIRT BUT IT’S A GOOD START

This year the t-shirt is a bit different. In their own words:

Further to the seasonal English version, the Maison has decided to have a yearly edition every time in a different language for the World AIDS day, starting with Japanese. Created in Paris, sold around the world, worn touching the heart, this limited edition charity AIDS T-shirt will be exclusively available in all Maison Martin Margiela stores. 

When most T-shirts carry a slogan their message may be read from a distance… dialogue is not necessary. When this T-Shirt is worn it is no longer possible for others to read the text printed on it (most of the text is on the inside at the back of the V-neckline). A dialogue on HIV/AIDS is there encouraged once another asks the wearer to explain what is written on their T-Shirt.

A percentage of the sales is donated to ‘AIDES’, a French organisation dedicated to fight the HIV virus and take care of patients living with HIV/AIDS (www.aides.org). Over the years, 170,000 T-shirts have been sold and brought a contribution of over 700,000 euros to ‘AIDES’. Unfortunately, the virus is still around and that action is still valid.
