Poseidonion Grace

our last shooting for summer season took place last week at Spetses island, which i hadn’t visited for ten years or so. didn’t see much of the island anyway but the hotel where we stayed was perfect enough to compensate us and make us not to want go anyplace else.

well you don’t call it just a hotel. Poseidonion Grace is a place with great history, built in 1914 and fully renovated in 2009, this mansion is a landmark of Spetses, a building of unique beauty and the last of its kind remaining around Mediterranean sea.

with it’s original marble staircases, old-fashioned tiles and cast iron balconies Poseidonion is perfect down to its last detail

my room before the invasion of a devouring pile of clothes

the hotel is rather over budget but in case you want to give yourself a little treat for a weekend, it worths every single penny, trust me. Plus, the food at the restaurant is to die for, traditionally- based gourmet but not fake at all – cause i’m sure you too have had enough of that “rocket-parmesan” kinda food

looking forward to revisit

Matteus last night: Ugly doll’s stories

In an old market that now works once a week, the background  was ready for Matteus to perform with his characteristic  prose songs from his latest release “Ugly Doll’s Stories”, an ode to non-communication between human beings. Matteus picks up the role of the customer entering a doll shop and every doll has its own story to tell about how it got or ended up there, a long journey with voices and stories ending up into a narration from each doll’s point of view, dealing with matters such as love, emotional breakdowns, separation, solitude and happiness.

The “Ugly doll’s stories” came out in a beautiful artwork and is available from today at Orila.net. I hate to repeat myself but it worths mentioning once more that Matteus will perform this Saturday 5th at Synch Festival.

Dior Blue- “Shanghai”

1947 marked the first appearance of a Sapphire dress that was to recur in a number of Monsieur Dior’s collections. With the birth of ‘The New Look’ , blue was already part of the house’s palette a “Bleu de Paris”, a shade of blue that since then runs the veins of Dior House.

While all eyes are on Shanghai for the universal exhibition, Dior has chosen to honour its strong links with China by reopening its boutique at Plaza 66. In this prestigious mall in the heart of Puxi, the 420 square meter space has been designed by Peter Marino, architect of Dior’s boutiques.

The transparent glass façade covered in a white silk screen evokes the “cannage” motif using a technique originally imagined by Kumiko Inui for the boutique in Nagoya, Japan. Inside, a wide staircase in Burgundy stone with a wrought-iron balustrade echoes the famous Dior staircase at 30 Avenue Montaigne. A video installation by Oyoram on some 96 screens accompanies the ascension towards the second floor.

DIOR makes its runway debut in Shanghai with a Cruise Collection that captures the true spirit of the Dior contemporary La Parisienne. Inspired by the cult French cinema movement Nouvelle Vague this collection captures the new generation – their optimism mixing bold colours, graphic shapes and stripes with fabric innovation. A small selection just to get an idea:

In Shanghai, Marion Cotillard becomes Lady Blue.

One lady. Four cities.

in a cinematic campaign based on four short stories, featuring the iconic Lady Dior handbag.

Galerie BSL at Marais

Exclusive one-off pieces, limited series, creation in design, jewellery and fashion… A three-part editorial line launched by Galerie BSL which opened to the public in the Marais on May 7th, at 23 rue Charlot, Paris 3rd.

Founded by Béatrice Saint-Laurent, this is a place that aims at making over the codes of the genre. The on-site architecture by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance breaks with the international white cube standard for art galleries – a model that may suit contemporary artworks but does not cover the needs of a design gallery. Noé has re-shuffled conventional object display codes by proposing a white Corian spiral scanned by sequences, a sculpture extrapolated to architectural scale.

This structure becomes the founding statement in the gallery’s space: an object for displaying other objects. As the designer himself says: ‘It’s a straight-up piece that accentuates interior perspectives, but which can also be as neutral as a white sheet‘.
A shell that is showcase and cocoon, built to enhance the most advanced design projects of today and other rare pieces or exclusive commissions: 20th c. lighting, contemporary and vintage jewellery, fashion creations.

The aim is to effect a radical tearing down of the borders that separate modes of expression and periods, which Béatrice Saint-Laurent hopes will lead to any number of exchanges. Cross-overs, influences, correspondences – a source of transversal readings and discoveries.

The other good news is the collaboration of a greek designer with BSL Gallery! Lito Karakostanoglou, executive designer of “Cabinet des Curiosites”, is showing pieces of her beautiful Peacock collection and many more, in the heart of Paris.

Roger Vivier for Robin Hood

Bruno Frisoni, Artistic Director of Roger Vivier, has created the high boots worn by actress Cate Blanchett for her role as Maid Marion in “Robin Hood”.

The boots are a result of the collaboration between Cate Blanchett, Bruno Frisoni and Janty Yates, the costume designer.

Bruno Frisoni:  “When Cate asked me to create her boots for the movie, I was so excited  I started sketching while we were still on the phone. In my mind I could see not only the boots but Cate as Maid Marion herself! Cate is an incredible actress and person. I admire her modernity, which is fragile and strong at the same time. That’s how I picture her: a woman in men’s clothes. I wanted to create some boots that were both feminine and masculine. Sexy: seduction on a horse!”

you got me there mister, isn’t Cate Blanchett THE absolute woman? i’m almost in love with her,  i have to admit.

 the boots: here we go

in the basement

taking down the steps at ‘Katarameno Syndromo’ on Saturday night, the smell of mold and soil got violently in my nostrils. cement walls, four chairs and plastic ivy plants on the stage.  underground or what.

the few of us who gathered there, went to listen the experimental sound of three artists that have something to say

Angelos Kyriou started first, half singing/half reciting his songs, like texts from a diary of a cursed poet, you don’t know if you want to burst out to laughs or tears

‘A thousand beautiful women’ played two ten-minute improvisations of psychedelic glitches that pierced ears and mind, completed by Tina’s etherial vocal sounds.

Mr. ‘202 Project‘, a quiet sweet guy/ a rocket on stage, took his place on the set after midnight, with his laptop-guitar-keyboard to sing some lo-fi noisy poetry for an hour, cerebral music for audience that cares to listen
